An artist’s studio and guesthouse was placed to create a courtyard with the pre-existing main residence. The old and the new sit together harmoniously to welcome visitors and functions as a place where ideas are born for a contemporary Asheville artist. Radiant floor heating and ample ventilation create comfortable living spaces all year round. Large glass doors and clerestory windows give lots of natural light and allow occupants to feel one with the outdoors.
